University booked their spot in Sunshine Coast rugby’s A grade Grand Final with a 31 to 10 win over Noosa in Saturday’s preliminary final at Caloundra.

Caboolture will be accompanying Wynnum in transferring from the suburban Barbar Cup to the Sunshine Coast Rugby Union competition.

Noosa defeated University 41 points to 14 at the University of the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
“It’s good to come back to the Sunshine Coast and play Sunshine Coast teams,” Noosa player Brendan Mayhew says.
“Uni is a lot fitter [than the Brisbane teams].
“They kept us going for a little bite there. The score doesn’t look that way.”
University coach Keith Davies Says his side still has players to come back.
“I think we need [the two byes in a month],” he says.
“Today we had people out with flu, we had three people pull up with flu.”
These illnesses came on top of injuries sustained in the earlier rounds of the year.
“[The byes] give us time to get some injuries right, get rid of the flu,” Davies says.
The entire competition has a general bye with the exception of the Reserve grade game between Maleny and
Gympie Fraser Coast at Witta.
Those teams will have their bye the week after with all teams having the weekend of the 19th and 20th off for a representative bye.

Noosa traveled to Goodna coming away with a 39 points to 0 win. The Dolphins lead 15 – 0 at half time.

Noosa coach Michael Phelan believes the 39 points to 0 score line was not a reflection of the quality contest provide by opponents Goodna.
This weekend we’ll be heading south from the Coast again. We’ll be covering the QSRU/SCRU game between Goodna and Noosa at Goodna.

University will open their rugby season against Wynnum on March 10.
The following week they’ll play Caboolture in Caboolture.
The season proper is expected to begin March 24.
There is talk that the Sunshine Coast Rugby Union clubs will be joining Queensland Suburban Rugby Union competition.
A decision is expected to be made at the QSRU Annual General Meeting.
