Reigning Barbar Cup premiers Wynnum will play in the Sunshine Coast Rugby Union competition from next year.
“Following the Wynnum Bugs Seniors & Colts success in 2018 the club has been offered and accepted an exciting invitation to join the Sunshine Coast Rugby Union A Grade, B Grade & Colts competitions,” the club posted on Facebook.
“This wasn’t a decision that was taken lightly, however it was made in the clubs best interest to provide our Seniors & Colts with a strong and reliable competition to compete in.
“As part of our acceptance to join their competition Wynnum have been afforded more homes games and reduced travel with away games.
“This makes for an exciting 2019 season with our homes games expected to be bigger and better than ever before.”
The move will allow Wynnum players a pathway through the Sunshine Coast representative teams – both Stingrays, and Queensland Country the next level up.
