Top 5 cricket grounds on the Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast has hosted many top flight domestic cricket matches in recent memory, even if they were preseason or junior matches.

All four of the grounds at Elizabeth Daniels Park in Buderim hosted warm up games for the Matador Cup limited overs competition. Caloundra’s Roy Henzell Oval and Landsborough’s main oval both shared Under 17 National Championships matches with the Buderim venue.

Sel Bonnel Oval, Cooroy

While most clubs just have a designated car park, one may drive their car right up to the boundary fence at Cooroy’s Sel Bonnel Oval. This allows travellers the chance to experience country cricket without being too far out of town.

Read Park, Tewantin

The most northern ground on this list Tewantin’s Read Park host’s Noosa Shires only SCCA top division club. The ground is a twenty minute bus trip from Noosa Heads, though this does include a five minute walk to the ground itself.

John Blanck Oval, Buderim

The main ground in the group at Elizabeth Daniels Park, John Blanck Oval host nearly all of the Sunshine Coast’s Queensland Premier Grade cricket matches. A twenty minute bus trip from the resorts and hotels in Maroochydore.

Roy Hanzell Oval, Caloundra

Among the Coast’s top grounds, Caloundra’s Roy Henzell Oval regularly hosts local Division 1 and 2 matches as well was being the Associations choice of venue for night time Twenty20 matches.

Landsborough Cricket Club Ground

Landsborough’s main ground is the second of the grounds on this list that doesn’t regularly host top division matches. The ground was recently upgraded for the Under 17 National Championships. It is the home ground for the Sunshine Coast Scorchers Women’s side.
