The Queensland Rugby League has rescheduled a number of Queensland Cup games.
Ipswich will play their round one game against Townsville at North Ipswich Reserve on May 10. Burleigh will play the corresponding game against Central Queensland Capras on August 2.
Mackay will host the PNG Hunters in Mackay as scheduled.
“Just generally being at home is a great feeling,” Mackay coach Adam Cuthburtson said.
“Avoiding the cyclone is a bonus. Hopefully they don’t get too much of the whether down south.
“It could have a know on effect potentially.
“Obviously we have to travel through Brisbane [during the season]”
The Barlow Park clash between Northern Pride and Brisbane Tigers on Saturday evening will also go ahead subject to the availability of flights from Brisbane to Cairns on the morning of the game.
The QRL has also moved two scheduled Saturday matches to this Sunday March 9,
The tentative schedule for that day is:
- Norths Devils v Redcliffe Dolphins, 2.10pm at Bishop Park, Nundah
- Souths Logan Magpies v Western Clydesdales, 2pm at Davies Park, West End
- Tweed Seagulls v Wynnum Manly Seagulls, 3pm at Piggabeen Sports Complex
These three Sunday games are subject to final approval to ensure the safety of all participants, with the QRL and clubs to monitor the weather and field conditions.
