Baringa advance in Cup with 4 – 3 win over Annerley

Baringa have progressed through to the next round of the Australia Cup with a 4 goals to three win over Annerley on Saturday.

Annerley scored the opening two goals of the game, first through Davis Bray in the 11th minute then Daniel Cristy in the 12th.

Baringa shot back with a 13th minute goal to Jake Rocker. Rocker would score again a minute later to tie the score at 2–all.

Annerley reclaimed the lead in the 21st minute through Richard McFaul.

Josh Buchanan equalized for Baringa in the 24th minute.

Rocker scored what would be the match winner in the 44th minute.

Baringa captain Nick Harvey said, “Look, it was hard-fought. Annerley made us work for it. [We] should have put the game to bed a bit earlier, but we dug deep and we got a result, and that’s the main thing at the end of the day. [It’s the] start of the season, so lots of positives but lots of things to work on.”

Reflecting on the game, Harvey admitted that Baringa could have managed the match better.

“Like I said, you know, we should have put them to bed early. We let in two goals early on which shouldn’t have happened. [We] missed a few chances early on. But, yeah, like I said, lots of positives to take away. We came back from 2-0 to win 4-3. So lots of positives.”

Baringa a next game will be at home in Baringa.

“We got BeeGee’s in the league just here back at home,” Harvey revealed. “That’ll be another fight and a tough game, so we’ll have to dig deep again and hopefully take our chances better this time.”
