Caloundra ran in eight tries in their 38 point thumping of Maroochydore at Lighthouse Park yesterday.
They ran in the first three in the first quarter hour before leaking two tries either side of half time.
The final 25 minutes saw the home side run in five unanswered tries to take the final score out to 52 to 14.
Captain Mitch Platt isn’t getting ahead of himself.
“That’s definitely our most complete performance out of the first three games so far,” he said.
“We really wanted to focus on our defence this time round.
“[We] leaked a few too many points in the last couple of games.
Maroochydore coach Stu Beakey rued the chance at a closer game.
“You can’t drop that many balls and miss that many tackles and expect to win the game,” he said.
Up at Maleny, University knocked off Wynnum in their top of the table clash 46 points to 5.
At Caboolture, Noosa thumped the home side 36 to 8.
These results put University in top spot, followed in order by Caloundra, Wynnum, Noosa, Maroochydore, and Caboolture.
In reserve grade, Caloundra 22 defeated Maroochydore 17, Wynnum 24 defeated Gympie 0, Maleny 0 lost to University 5, Caboolture Black 0 lost to Noosa 38, and Nambour 28 defeated Caboolture Gold 8.
